I. Policy

As members of the UTA community, employees are responsible for sustaining the highest ethical standards of the university, and of the broader community in which we serve. Employees must be cognizant of, and comply with, the relevant policies, standards, laws and regulations that guide our work. To assist employees in this responsibility UTA has developed Standards of Conduct and Principles of Community.

Each employee is individually accountable for their own actions and, as members of the University community, we are collectively accountable for upholding the University's Standards of Conduct, all applicable federal and state laws, the Policies and the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of the UT System; and the policies and procedures of UTA. Even the appearance of misconduct or impropriety can be very damaging to the University.

The University must strive at all times in its dealings, including its business activities, to maintain the UTA Standards of Conduct and Principles of Community and the highest standards of quality and integrity.

The president, vice presidents, deans, directors, department heads and other supervisors are responsible for fostering respect for the values embodied in the Standards of Conduct and the Principles of Community and for promoting compliance with them. UTA encourages employees who have questions or concerns about their obligations under the Standards of Conduct and the Principles of Community, possible illegal or unethical behavior, or non-compliance with UTA policy to speak with their supervisors or a member of University Compliance Services. The Standards of Conduct are not all inclusive and may be supplemented by other UTA policies that describe employee conduct and expectations.

To assist in enforcing the Standards of Conduct, the University has made available a confidential reporting "hotline" operated by EthicsPoint, an independent reporting service. Information concerning the hotline and related policies and procedures may be found here. Complaints may be filed anonymously through the website, by letter, or by telephone.
